Questions guests actually ask
The questions guests actually ask us before they arrive, answered plainly. Where something depends on the room or the season, we say so rather than guess, because a promise the hotel cannot keep helps nobody.
If what you need is not here, reception answers the phone at any hour of the day or night, and someone who works in the building will be the one talking to you.

Rooms and comfort
What your room includes, what varies between rooms, and what to tell us in advance so the right one is waiting for you.
- Do all rooms have a balcony?
- No. Several rooms have a balcony and others do not. If a balcony matters to you, say so when you book and we will confirm what is free for your dates.
- Can I request a view of the Rio Minho?
- Outlooks vary between rooms: river, mountain, garden or town. We cannot guarantee a specific view in advance, but you are welcome to ask when booking or on arrival and we will do what we can.
- Is air conditioning in every room?
- Air conditioning is available within the property rather than in every room, and all rooms have heating. Confirm the features of your chosen room at the time of booking.
- Are the bathrooms private, and is there step-free access?
- The entrance is step-free and a lift serves every floor, so all guest rooms can be reached without steps. Every room has its own bathroom. Some are fitted with a walk-in shower and grab rails. If you have specific accessibility needs, contact us before booking so we can tell you honestly what we can offer.
Arrival and practicalities
Times, parking, luggage, breakfast and the seasonal side of the hotel, so there are no surprises on the day you turn up.
- What are the check-in and check-out times?
- Check-in is from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and check-out is until 12:00 PM. Reception is staffed around the clock, so let us know if you are arriving late and we will keep an eye out for you.
- Can I leave luggage before check-in or after check-out?
- Yes. Baggage storage is available at reception either side of your stay, which helps if your travel times fall outside the standard hours.
- Do I need to reserve parking?
- No. Parking on site is free and does not need to be reserved, so arriving by car is straightforward at any hour.
- Is breakfast included, and can I eat dinner at the hotel?
- A continental and buffet breakfast is served each morning in the dining room; whether it is included depends on the rate you book. The hotel has a bar rather than a restaurant, and reception will happily point you to places to eat nearby.
- Is the outdoor pool open all year?
- The pool is seasonal and opens in the warmer months. The garden, sun deck, lounge with fireplace and games room are available whatever the weather.
- Are children and pets welcome?
- Children of all ages are welcome and family rooms are available with additional sleeping space. Pets are not allowed.
Getting around the Minho
How guests move around the valley, reach the town and the river, and cross the water into Galicia for the day.
- Do I need a car to stay here?
- A car is the easiest way to reach the hotel and to make the most of the region. Without one, plan around local bus and rail services along the Minho valley and ask reception for current timetables, as they change with the season.
- How do I get to the town centre and the riverside?
- The hotel sits in Bairro de Lourido, a short trip from the centre of Vila Nova de Cerveira and the riverside park on the bank of the Rio Minho. Reception can point you along the most pleasant route on foot or by car.
- How easy is it to cross into Galicia?
- Galicia lies directly across the river, so a day in Spain is an easy plan by car. Portugal and Spain are both in the Schengen area, and there are no routine border checks between them.
- What is worth doing nearby?
- The town has the Aquamuseu do Rio Minho, the long-running Bienal de Cerveira and a riverside park, with the coast, the mountains and cities such as Viana do Castelo, Braga and Porto all within a comfortable drive. Explore the region.
- How do I book, and who do I contact with a question?
- Rooms are reserved through the Book button on this site. For anything else, call +351 251 794 690 or write to reservation@hotelminhobelo.com.
Still have a question?
Call or email us and a member of the team will answer directly, usually the same person who will greet you at the desk when you arrive. When you are ready, reserve your room and we will take care of the rest.
